UEcategory for the Sixfab 5G Development Kit for Raspberry Pi

Hi

I am using this SixFab module - https://sixfab.com/product/raspberry-pi-5g-development-kit-5g-hat/#tab-description fresh from the shipment as is.

I see in the UE capability it reports ue category 4 - do we get any upgrade to use higher UE category or can we control it by any commands to change it ?

The Sixfab 5G Development Kit (5G HAT) uses a 5G module that is backward compatible with LTE Category 4 (Cat 4), limiting the download speed to 150 Mbps. If the UE category is showing Cat 4, it means 5G is not available in your location or the network is unstable. The module automatically selects the appropriate Radio Access Technology (RAT) based on the network conditions.

  • You can use the AT+QSCAN command to search for nearby cells and check the available RAT.

Please note that LTE Category 20 (DL) and Category 18 (UL) are theoretical maximum speeds under ideal conditions and actual speeds depend on the network.

If you have any logs or further details on the network environment, please share them and we can assist further.
