Preamble: I’ve had a 4G/LTE Base HAT with a Quectel module running for some time now and I really like it. More recently I purchased another LTE Base HAT that had a Telit module. I’ve found the Telit module has more problems configuring and troubleshooting, and I’d like to swap it for a Quectel EC25-A module. The SixFab store has been out of stock of these for a while.
Question: If I purchase a PCIE module from Quectel (EC25AFA), will it be plug and play? It’s not clear if I’ll need to load a specific version of firmware on the module itself, or if the firmware exist only on the Pi. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
