NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano compatability

I am just wondering if the Sixfab NVIDA Jetson Nano 4G/LTE Modem Kit is compatible with Jetson Orin nano? I installed the module and noticed that the provided USB bridge was a bit short. Can I just substitute with another bridge or are there any other incompatibilities to be aware of?

Hi,

We can’t say anything definite about compatibility because it hasn’t been tested with ā€˜Orin.’ There may be differences.

Alright, I appreciate the response. A question specifically about the USB bridge. Would it be possible to substitute with a regular male USB 2.0 to male USB 2.0 connector? If I was doing this with a Jetson Nano that is.

Jetson Orin 5G modem support, solution would be a banger… !!

Hello @fabianzander2 you may have figured this out already but I was able to get this working by connecting them with a USB-A male-male cable. No issues with the cellular connectivity.

@fabianzander2 Hey I am working on a project right now and I planned on using the same setup. Did you end up getting this working?

Hey @nkamidi, I just wanted to follow up here and confirm you used an extension USB A cable instead of the one given and you were able to get the 4G/LTE Cellular Modem Kit for NVIDIA Jetson Nano DevKit to work on the Jetson Orin Nano. Would you foresee any problems with using this system with the AGX. Despite being a different board the software should be similar enough that the drivers would still be compatible, correct?

@ICHeavy Yes, I was able to get it working by attaching the LTE HAT to the nano and connecting them with a USB A cable. Considering that AGX also runs a flavor of Linux (Ubuntu), and the CORE installation script is pretty standard, I don’t foresee any issue with running this on AGX.

Thank you much for your help.

It looks like the Jetson Nano and the Jetson Orin Nano are form factor compatible, but not pin-2-pin compatible on the GPIO header. Does this mean that the HAT designed for the Jetson Nano would fit to an Orin Nano and ā€œjust workā€ or not…?

I guess it partly depends on if the 4o pin header is used by the hat, or if it is just passed directly through…?

Does this mean that the https://sixfab.com/product/4g-lte-cellular-modem-for-nvidia-jetson-nano-developer-kit/

@ben The HAT fits perfectly on the Jetson orin nano. It certainly worked on my POC. However, the automatic switch-over from/to WLAN connection turned out to be not so reliable. I found another solution, so please send me a DM if you are interested.

Thanks @nkamidi - that’s good to know. In the short term I don’t think we’ll be using the WLAN - possibly acrually removing it - but it’s great to know it is physically and electrically compatible. Just have to wait for the shipping now!

Ah…it doesn’t quite fit!
The standoffs are out of alignment, and the USB bridge connector provided doesn’t reach.

Both probably solvable…
